The company was founded in 2015 on our passion to give people the first-class treatment they deserve.  It is rare in the accounting industry to get the one-on-one attention that the vast majority of people desire. 

When we started this journey in November of 2015, the business began with a simple mission statement….”just do the right thing”. At that time, going full-time working for ourselves seemed like a pipe dream.

Jesse and I played on a baseball team together when we were kids (Jesse remembered this, I didn’t). We reconnected as co-workers at a family-owned tax firm in Port Jeff Station, NY. Our time there was beneficial in a few ways. We learned a tremendous amount about taxation and return preparation, IRS problem resolution, worked with some special people, and most importantly, became close friends. Our time there lasted from 2011 until we left in 2015. The work schedule during tax season was demanding, and we both wanted more from our life. It would have been difficult to start a family while working 80 days straight during tax season!

When we left, we went into different sectors. Jesse went to work at St Anthony’s High School where he started in the accounting department and worked his way to Assistant Admissions Director (while keeping some accounting duties). His personality and people skills could not be contained behind a desk, and he flourished dealing with incoming students and their parents. At such an important juncture in their kid’s lives, Jesse excels at making the family feel comfortable during such a big transition. Oh, and most importantly, Jesse starred on a Netflix show in 2016 called “Friends from College” where he was recruited to a speaking role while working his second job at a winery. (He is in season 1 episode 5 “Party Bus” if you haven’t seen it already)

I left to work in the accounting department at a construction company in Deer Park. I began as a senior accountant and ended my tenure there as the Controller. My time there was incredibly valuable. The owner of the company was a mentor for me and challenged me every chance he could. My work ranged from bids and proposals to high-end client sales meetings. I was thrown into every situation possible because the owner knew…if I wasn’t challenged, he was going to lose me as an employee. Because of his tutelage, I gained a level of business acumen that I would not have been able to obtain anywhere else. 

During our time away from taxes as a day job, we worked on growing our business. It was never easy. In the early days Jesse drove across Long Island to meet clients when we didn’t have an office, and I would be working past midnight catching up on the tax returns we needed to input and review. There have been endless nights and weekends to bring us to this point. All of which we have tried to build part-time while juggling our day job, our families, and everyday life.

Despite those struggles, we decided that we can’t work for anyone else but each other. We are meant to work with people to give them an unparalleled experience. The accounting industry has a severe lack of people who care. Jesse and I are different in that aspect. Before everything else, we care about you..the client. We have laughed with clients and unfortunately cried with them as well. In doing this, we felt like our hard work could pay off.

Now here we are in 2022. All our late nights, weekends, and struggles have all brought us to this moment. A moment where we can say that we did something special. We have our name on the door of our own office….ready to start the next chapter.
